Corporate Social Responsibility

Society

We support our society by making donations to good causes, sponsoring groups and organisations and generally demonstrating social responsibility.

Environment

Our products are subject to high quality criteria. Among other things, we are certified under the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 and are committed to socially responsible textile production.

Employees

Our employees help us shape our business. They are the most important part of ATAIR and we ensure they can develop through ongoing professional training.

Society

Social responsibility

For many years we have been subcontracting work to the disabled people’s workshops at the Antonius-Haus. There people with disabilities help us to complete finishing orders and thus to deliver the right products to our customers at the right time.

Donations

We donate to good causes! During the Christmas season, we run our fundraising campaign for Aktion Lichtblicke e.V. Amounts in the four-digit range are regularly collected here.

In the “Atair keeps fit” challenge, 0.50 cents are donated for every kilometre run/walked by all employees participating in the campaign to two associations. Our employees were able to vote for the associations they would like to donate to from a pool of associations. This year, the “Herzenswünsche” (Heart’s Desires) campaign came in first, receiving 60% of the euros run/walked, and 40% went to our second-place charity “Die Tafel Steinfurt” (Steinfurt Food Bank).

Taster days

We frequently offer schoolchildren the opportunity to experience working life at ATAIR. This enables them to make contacts within the company, for example for internships, at an early stage.

Sponsoring

We sponsor regional sports clubs to promote the link between sport and young people.

Apprenticeships

We train apprentices. For many years ATAIR has been a recognised training company.

Sustainability

For us, sustainability means thinking and planning several generations ahead. Many employees have been with us for decades. Everything we do that involves employees, customers and partners is informed by guidelines based on fairness, sustainability, responsibility and ethics. We are committed to ecological and social sustainability and ensure transparency within our supply chains. We believe that companies and people who are doing well should demonstrate responsibility towards the society they are part of.

Ökoprofit

Is it possible to reduce operating costs while also cutting back on the consumption of valuable resources? We consider the ‘Ökoprofit’ project run by the Ministry of Environment of North Rhine-Westphalia to be a key challenge, which shows the environmental awareness not only of our company, but of each and every one of us, in stark relief.

BEPI

Amfori BEPI was founded in 2013 and is concerned with the assessment of 11 environmental performance targets ranging from energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions to management of chemicals. The structured approach with five steps offers companies opportunities for continuous optimisation by mapping and analysis of their supply chain as well as acceleration of improvements and monitoring of developments.

Energy efficiency

We increasingly use resource-conserving sources of energy. As part of the EcoProfit project, old fluorescent tubes are successfully replaced by LED lights.

Furthermore, the departments are working on the switch from traditional letter post to email correspondence.

Leave requests, payroll accounting, etc.: Digitisation has long since arrived, and we were able to reduce our paper consumption by one third.

We only use wood-free paper at all levels of the company. Its production requires 72% less energy, 83% less water and 53% less CO2 than the production of conventional paper.

We only use reusable plastic bags with a zip closure for customer samples.

Detox

Annual chemical reports from our production partners help us support the objectives of the Detox campaign, which aims to replace harmful chemicals in production processes with benign substances by 2020.

Sustainability / protection of species

We have planted a flower meadow next to our warehouse building in Wettringen to protect insect species and create a natural habitat.

Future projects / environmental objectives

This year, ATAIR GmbH is planning more big projects, such as GreenIT or the installation of solar panels, to continue our push towards greater sustainability and responsibility towards people and the environment.

Product

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100

This goes without saying for ATAIR and our partners. We work carefully to secure the annual certification so we can guarantee our customers flawless goods at any time.

GOTS

Processing textiles made from organically produced natural fibres is becoming increasingly significant for us, which is why we have trebled our range of GOTS items since 2016.

Supplier audits

Every supplier needs to submit an application to us and satisfy certain prerequisites. Additionally, all regular partners are routinely audited and monitored to ensure they comply with our required criteria.

Quality assurance

Our products are subject to high quality criteria. To guarantee that these are met in the long term, the goods are regularly monitored both internally and externally (by us and approved testing institutes) and subjected to spot checks.

Employees

BSCI

BSCI is a platform for improving social standards in a global value creation chain. The organisation, which is headquartered in Brussels, supports commercial businesses in adopting or referencing a code of conduct as well as a systematic monitoring and qualification system. The BSCI approach consists of compliance with the code, the involvement and protection of employees, supply chain management and cascade effects as well as a grievance mechanism.
As a certified company we undertake to inform employees of their rights, comply with the BSCI principles and influence other business partners and also provide a system for complaints and suggestions.

HUMAN RIGHTS

People are at the core of all our activities. In order to protect them and to prevent any type of violation of the human rights in global supply and value chains, we are committed to respecting human rights on the basis of the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. Our Declaration of Principles on Human Rights is available here.

Training courses / seminars

Training courses and seminars are a firm part of our HR policy. All employees have the opportunity both to consolidate existing knowledge and learn new things. At their annual feedback meetings, employees discuss which potential courses or seminars may be of interest.

WE PERSONIFY DIVERSITY

Diversity is an essential factor in establishing a thriving working environment, in particular when it comes to ensuring the commitment of the employees. Diversity in the workplace enhances creativity and innovation because every team member brings different backgrounds, points of view and experiences to the table. These unique viewpoints have a significant influence on our company and our staff.

The coexistence of a range of cultures, genders and generations is part of everyday life at our plant. We consciously promote the diversity of our staff – with their wide range of experiences, points of view and skills, they are the basis of our success.

E-bikes

To ensure that our employees remain mobile and healthy, they all have the option to lease up to two e-bikes, including for private use.
